New Video!

Duas das minhas melhores amigas vieram até a minha cidade, Joinville, para o meu casamento, nesse sábado, 15.  A Sabrina, veio do Rio de Janeiro e a Regianne, de Campinas (SP). As duas chegaram ontem mesmo, quinta-feira e fizemos uns programas bem mulherzinha, tipo arrumar cabelo, se maquiar, sair para comer coisas engordativas e, por fim, se enfiar debaixo das cobertas e gravar esse video pra vocês! A nossa amizade começou há alguns anos, através da internet, e somos very best umas das outras!

E eu juro que a única bebida que tomamos foi milkshake, hein gente kkk

Two of my best friends came over to my town for my wedding, which is going to take place this saturday, 15th. Sabrina came from Rio and Regianne from São Paulo. We had a great time together, doing girls' stuff, such as make up, hairstyling, eating fast food and sleep-over under the warm blankets! We met through the internet, years ago and now is the first time that the three of us are together.

Finalmente o meu apartamento entrou nos eixos e pude desfrutar um pouco mais dos backgrounds. O Rover se meteu em quase todas as fotos e sem nenhuma objeção minha, pois quem iria negar colo para um cachorro fofo e pidão como Roberwal??

I finally got my apartment together, and could show it a little bit for you guys. Rover put his nose in almost all the pictures, and I meant no pushing him away. Seriously, who is going to shoo a cutie like that???

Meus lindos sapatos bicolores foram um presente da ZPZ Shoes, que, aliás, tem um sapato mais lindo do que o outro e que aderem bem à estética mais clássica e antiguinha, bem como a gente gosta!

First Video Blog!

Demorou mas aconteceu! O meu primeiro video blog entrou no ar hoje e o tema foi uma video tag chamada 'Vintage Tag', que já era super popular dentre as blogueiras gringas, mas agora traduzi para nós, meninas aqui do Brasil fazerem esse video também. Espero que vocês gostem de me ouvir falar, pois adorei a ideia e já tenho alguns outros videos em mente!

~Top of the Vintage Style~ presents: Sara Vargas

Sou uma profunda admiradora da cena vintage de Portugal, pois a acho muito rica, bem elaborada e em sintonia. Um dos alicerces dessa vertente por lá é Sara Vargas, produtora e idealizadora da La Belle Bombshell, uma espécie de consultoria vintage que preza a genuína representação de estilos do passado. Acompanhem a conversa que tive com ela:

I'm truly an admirer of Portugal's Vintage scene. The girls there always display a very rich, elaborated and in tune style. One of the basis of this scene over there is Sara Vargas, producer and creator of La Belle Bombshell, a consulting and workshop company that helps the girls to represent a genuine vintage style. Check out the interview:

- De onde você é? Onde você mora?/Where are you from? Where do you live?

Sara:  Sou de Lisboa, cidade maravilhosa !Tenho a sorte de viver numa zona muito bonita, no alto de uma das colinas da cidade, a Graça. / I'm from Lisbon, wonderful city! I'm lucky to live in a very beautiful area on the top of a hill called Graça.

- Desde quando você se veste no 'vintage style'? Conte-me sobre seus ícones de beleza do passado e do presente (se tiver). / Since when you've been dressing up on 'vintage style'? Tell me some more about your fashion icons from the past and also from the present (if you had).

Sara: Comecei a vestir-me assim porque sempre gostei muito de uma certa estética da primeira metade do século XX. Sempre me fascinou alguma arte,  cinema e literatura desse período e também o imaginário associado e a estética. Acho que os meus ícones sempre foram atores e atrizes de cinema clássico, bem como músicos. A determinada altura também comecei a frequentar mais festivais de rock n roll, rockabilly e rhythm n blues e tornou-se mais fácil partilhar essa paixão por ser "normal" nesse meio. 

Os meus ícones do passado são vários mas escolheria, a nível estético, a Carmen Miranda, a Marlene Dietrich, a Rita Hayworth, Lucille Ball, Gene Tierney, Lauren Bacall, Hedy Lamarr, Lupe Velez ...

Do presente...hmm... talvez a Immodesty Blaize.

I started to dress up like this because I've always liked the esthetics from the first half of the XX century. I was always fascinated about some art, cinema or literature of this period and also the imaginary associated to the esthetics. My icons always were the ones from the classic movies and the musicians as well. I started to visit more often the rock, rockabilly and rhythm n blues festivals and that became easier to be a part of something, once I felt normal in that kind of place. My icons from the past are Carmen Miranda, Marlene Dietrich, Rita Hayworth, Lucille Ball, Gene Tierney, Lauren Bacall, Hedy Lamarr, Lupe Velez...From the present...hmm...maybe Immodesty Blaize.

- Você costuma criar os seus looks (como costura ou handmade)? Do you use to create your own outfits (like sewin' or handmade...)?Onde você costuma comprar suas roupas? Where do you usually buy your pieces?

Sara:  Normalmente compro muito em lojas vintage, mercados, feiras e também em festivais de rock n roll em Barcelona e Londres. Isto claro para além do ebay e sites. Também costumo mandar fazer algumas coisas numa modista amiga. Por vezes faço alguns acessórios para o cabelo, mas coisas específicas... Costuras só para alguns figurinos do Cais Sodré Cabaret!

I usually buy a lot on vintage stores, markets, fairs e also rock n roll festivals in London and Barcelona. This, of course, beyond the ebay and websites. I also ask a friend seamstress to sew some things for me. Sometimes I make hair acessories or clothing for Cais Sodré Cabaret!

- Como as pessoas reagem ao te ver andando no vintage style? How do people behave/react when they see you walking on the street on vintage style?

Sara:  Normalmente reagem bem. Sobretudo as pessoas mais velhas. Também no lugar onde vivo e faço o meu dia-a-dia as pessoas não reparam muito. Sinto mais as atenções por vezes em locais mais pequenos ou pequenas cidades./ People usually have good reactions, specially the older ones. In the place that I live my everyday life, they don't care much. I feel more the attention on small places or towns.

 - Conte-me sobre a cena vintage de Portugal - que me parece muito rica, por sinal. Você tem dois projetos que têm como a temática vintage o foco central; conte-me mais sobre eles./ Tell me about Portugal's vintage scene - it looks very rich, by the way. You have two projects that are based on the vintage theme; tell me more about them.

Sara: Bom, a cena vintage em Portugal não é muito forte mas vai crescendo... Já tivemos alguns bons festivais de rock n roll como o Portugaloha e o Great Shakin Fever (que entretanto irá ter uma edição em Agosto), o lindy hop tem ganho alguns adeptos e vão existindo algumas festas e concertos). Por haver pouca coisa é que eu e o Carlos decidimos criar em 2007 o coletivo Cais Sodré Cabaret!, uma festa de burlesco e vaudeville com forte componente retro, concertos e dj's. Foi a primeira em Portugal do genero e com todos estes elementos.  O Cais Sodré Cabaret! é um projeto que tem crescido e já atuou em alguns dos maiores festivais em Portugal e Espanha. Paralelamente ao CSC, criei em 2010 os workshops La Belle Bombshell, de burlesco e pin up styling, e que surgiram a pedido de várias pessoas que mostravam interesse em que algumas das bailarinas do Cais Sodré Cabaret! partilhassem algo com elas. Tem sido muito bom :)

The vintage scene in Portugal is not strong, but it's growing...We already had rock n roll festivals like Portugaloha and Great Shakin Fever; the lindy hop is getting more followers and making more parties and concerts happen. Because there were few things about the theme, Carlos and I decided to create, in 2007, Cais Sodré Cabaret!, a burlesque and vaudeville party, with a retro feeling and djs. That was the first one of the gender in Portugal. Cais Sodré Cabaret! is a project that is growing and  had already taken the greatest festivals in Portugal and Spain. Parallel with CSC, I created in 2010 the workshops from La Belle Bombshell, from the burlesque to the pin up styling; people showed interest about the way that the dancers from CSC looked and asked us for sharing our knowlege with them. It's being really good!

1950s Schoolgirl

 

Recebi um e-mail de uma leitora que trazia um assunto bem interessante: Como vestir-se para ir à escola, já que ela é apaixonada pelos 50s?

Essa questão não é nenhum pouco difícil de responder, pois as 50s Schoogirls eram ícones de moda e recheavam as páginas das revistas da época, como Vogue e Life. Tendo isso em vista, selecionei alguns arquivos de imagens e filmes, com o intuito de dar dicas de como incorporar o estilo Schoolgirl ao dia-a-dia de vocês, leitoras. Vejam só:

A lovely reader sent me and email asking for help: 'I'm in love with the 50s! How am I supposed to dress up to go to school?'. This question was easy to be answered, once the 1950s Schoolgirls' style is so inspiring and popular; even the Vogue and Life magazines used to illustrate their pages with pictures of those girls!

Having this in mind, I selected a couple of pictures and with this post, I intend to inspire the readers to incorporate this style nowadays.

As saias ou blazers xadrez eram super presentes na elaboração desses looks./ The plaid skirts and blazers are a must have. 

Suéter e também jaquetas Varsity./ Sweaters and Varsity jackets.

Meinhas brancas 3/4 e sapatos Oxford (ou, se você tiver sorte de adquirir um Saddle Shoes)./ White socks and oxford or Saddle shoes.
